Honors and Awards

At the state level, the Chargers compete in the North Carolina Independent School Athletic Association (NCISAA). As a member of the NCISAA, Providence Day also competes for the annual Wells Fargo Cup.

The Wells Fargo Cup, presented and sponsored by Wells Fargo Bank, N.A., recognizes overall excellence in high school athletics among NCISAA member institutions.  As such, the Cup has become the single most valued athletic achievement award in North Carolina.

Since 1985 the Wells Fargo Cup has been presented to the schools in each classification. Beginning in 1999 - 2000, the Wells Fargo Cup has been awarded in three classifications, 1A, 2A, 3,, with awards being issued to the school with the most combined points.  The winning schools in each classification receive an engraved silver cup and a banner.  Both awards are provided as permanent recognition of that year's athletic excellence.

The winning schools are determined by point totals earned through competition in state championships.  Each school that finishes in the top eight of a state championship tournament receives Wells Fargo Cup points. Wells Fargo points are awarded as follows:  50 points for first place, 45 for second, 第三名40分, 35 for fourth, 第五名30分, 6分25分, 20 for seventh, and 15 for eighth.  In the event of a tie, the point total for that finish is divided evenly among the schools involved.

Providence Day's varsity teams compete in the 夏洛特 Independent School Athletic Association (CISAA) which is comprised of six local independent schools in the 夏洛特 area. Cannon School, 夏洛特 Christian, 夏洛特 Country Day, 夏洛特 Latin, and Covenant Day School.

Our Middle School teams compete in the Greater 夏洛特 Middle School Athletic Association (GCMSAA). The conference is comprised of Cannon School, 夏洛特 Christian, 夏洛特 Latin, 夏洛特 Country Day, Covenant Day School, “三位一体”, and Lake Norman Charter.
